Healthcare system navigation – request for information

PIH Health’s Community Health Education Department is currently helping to develop an initiative to increase patients’ and community members’ understanding of how to access healthcare and how to navigate the healthcare system.

We envision this initiative will have many strategies, such as training our volunteers to be health navigators, ensuring our health education classes consistently cover the importance of being your own health advocate, and offering one-on-one appointments with financial counselors to review/explain bills and address access-related questions related to navigating the complex system.

We very much value learning from our colleagues in the field and are hoping to find out:

1) who is successfully implementing strategies in this area
2) what strategies have been most successful
